Info Sud-Est investigation, nominated in two Superscrieri #12 categories

An Info Sud-Est investigation has been nominated in two Superscrieri #12 categories, at the edition whose gala will take place in mid-May in Bucharest. This year’s theme is dedicated to “young wolves”, the new generation of journalists coming up from behind, announces the Friends For Friends Foundation.

Andreea Pavel and Adrian Anton (student, 2nd year, recently joined the ISE team) have been nominated for the Debut and Local Press categories, with their investigation “Copy-paste consultancy on EU money: Alfred Simonis’s godmother’s and her cousin’s firms, contracts on a conveyor belt from PNRR and ITI Danube Delta/ They got 14 contracts in only two days/ The reports include the same mistakes”.

Info Sud-Est has also won the Superscrieri Honorary Award for Local Press (2017), the Local Press Award and the Jury Award (2022) with it’s investigation “Where did the EU’s €1 billion for the Danube Delta go. The people who control the money”.

The jury is composed of: Paul Radu (president), Alice Iacobescu, Cătălin Striblea, Codruța Simina, Cristian Leonte, Dan Duca, Dan Radu, Daniel Condurache, Emilia Șercan, Florin Negruțiu, Irina Păcurariu, Marius Comper, Mihai Ghiduc, Mona Dîrțu, Oana Giurgiu, Octav Ganea, Paula Herlo, Robert Schwartz, Vlad Stoicescu; Alex Gâlmeanu and Ileana Szasz for the Photojournalism category; Cosmin Pojoranu and Monica Jitariuc for the Civic Influencers category; Andrei Ciurcanu for the “Animal Welfare in Romania” special award.

Paul Radu, co-founding journalist of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and president of the Superscrieri jury, said that the 12th edition is dedicated to open and innovative journalism:

“Superscries #12 is dedicated to open and innovative journalism. I am happy to discover journalists who open their eyes even wider and understand that technology and creativity go hand in hand to serve the public interest. The jury has a tough job this year. We have both new and more mature generations, so we have strong competition and a remarkable diversity of perspectives. Congratulations to the nominees and to all the journalists who map reality with every story told!”, Paul Radu said.
